Twitter officially hires Crypto team, here’s what to expect

After introducing the Bitcoin tipping feature, along with its NFT drop, Twitter took a step forward with the official announcement of its Crypto team formation. According to an exclusive Twitter thread by Tess Rinearson, Twitter’s crypto team’s head, this initiative aims to serve as a “center of excellence” for all things blockchain at Twitter. She noted that the team won’t merely focus on cryptocurrencies, however, its reach extends “beyond cryptocurrencies”, and they will work towards the expansion and enhancement of crypto, blockchains, and other decentralized technologies on Twitter.

Twitter “gets” crypto, here’s why?

While Rinearson asserted that Twitter truly “gets” crypto, highlighting the former Bitcoin tipping and NFT achievements, she also stated that there are several other layers to explore and that the new Crypto Team will be working towards deciphering “what crypto can do for Twitter, as well as what Twitter can do for crypto”.  From creators’ effort in utilizing the decentralized sphere to promote their interest through NFTs and cryptocurrencies, to bringing in the community perspective regarding ownership and identity, Twitter’s aim is to “push the boundaries” of the decentralized industry on its platform. Furthermore, the Crypto team will collaborate with the Blue Sky team to bring social media up to speed with the future of decentralization.

“First, we’ll be exploring how we can support the growing interest among creators to use decentralized apps to manage virtual goods and currencies, and to support their work and communities…Looking farther ahead, we’ll be exploring how ideas from crypto communities can help us push the boundaries of what’s possible with identity, community, ownership and more…And, of course, we’ll be working closely with the Blue Sky team to help shape the future of decentralized social media (and to make sure that Twitter stays on the cutting edge of this new landscape, too!).”, according to Tess Rinearson’s Twitter thread.
